Seine Oberflächentemperatur liegt zwischen -156 und -212 °C. Ein Uranusjahr dauert 84,01 Erdjahre. Die Atmosphäre dieses Gasriesen besteht aus molekularem Wasserstoff, Helium und Methan. Er hat mehrere schmale Ringe aus Brocken dunkler Materie, die wie Kohlestücke aussehen. Er schimmert grünlich bis blaßblau. Uranus ist 19mal weiter von der Sonne entfernt als die Erde und mit dem bloßen Auge kaum zu erkennen. Seine Pole sind im Wechsel 42 Jahre in der Sonne und 42 Jahre im Schatten. Uranus wurde erst 1781 von Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel mit einem selbstgebauten Spiegelteleskop entdeckt.
Benannt ist der Planet nach dem Vater des Saturn.

Uranus is the 7th planet, 287 billion kilometers from the sun, with a diameter of 52,300 kilometers and a magnitude 24 times that of the earth. Its surface temperature lies between -156 and -212°C. A Uranus year is about 84.01 of our years. Hydrogen, helium, and methane molecules form the atmosphere of this giant gas body. Several small rings comprised of black coal-like material surround Uranus. The planet schimmers from greenish to pale blue. Uranus is 19 times as far away from the sun as the earth and is hardly visible with the naked eye. Its poles change regularly, lying 42 years in the sun and 42 years in its shadow. Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel first discovered Uranus with a self-made reflecting telescope in 1781. The planet is named after the grandfather of Zeus (the Titans).

La température à sa surface varie entre -156 °C et -212 °C. Une année uranienne dure 84,01 années terrestres. L'atmosphère de cette géante gazeuse est composée de molécules d'hydrogène, d'hélium et de méthane. Elle possède plusieurs anneaux fins, composés de morceaux d'une matière sombre, qui ressemblent à du charbon. Elle brille d'une couleur verdâtre à bleu pâle. Uranus se trouve 19 fois plus loin du Soleil que la Terre, et est à peine visible à l'oeil nu. Ses pôles subissent alternativement 42 ans de lumière et 42 ans d'ombre. Uranus fut seulement découvert en 1781 par Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel, à l'aide d'un téléscope à miroirs de sa propre construction.
Son nom est celui du père de Saturn.
