Er ist der 6. Planet und am nächtlichen Himmel noch gut wahrnehmbar. Sein Abstand zur Sonne beträgt 1,427 Milliarden (!) km, sein Durchmesser 120.700 km. Er ist damit nach Jupiter der zweitgrößte Planet mit dem 95fachen der Erdmasse. Seine charakteristischen Ringe, die bis zu 140.000 km in den Weltraum hinausreichen, bestehen aus Milliarden Gesteins- bzw. Eisbrocken, die mikroskopisch klein sind, aber auch bis zu 10 Metern messen können. Die Ringe sind gegen die Erde gekippt, so daß man sie bereits mit einem Fernrohr sehen kann. Die Oberflächentemperatur liegt bei -170 °C. Wie der Jupiter strahlt er mehr Hitze aus als er von der Sonne erhält. Für das Umkreisen der Sonne benötigt er mehr als 29 Jahre.
In der Mythologie ist Saturn ein langsamer Gott, der von seiner Mutter vom Olymp heruntergeworfen wurde und daher hinkt. Damit wurde im Altertum sein langsamer Gang um die Sonne begründet.Dieser ruhige Satz läßt auf der Orgel beide Schwebungen ertönen.

Barely visible in the nightly heaven is the 6th planet, Saturn. It is 1,427 billion (!) kilometers away from the sun and has a diameter of 120,700 kilometers. With a magnitude 95 times that of the earth, it is second only to Jupiter in size. Billions of particles, from microscopically small to 10 meters in size, comprise Saturn’s characteristic engirding rings. These particles of ice or other solid bodies swarm up to 140,000 kilometers out into space. The rings are slanted towards the earth, so that they can be seen through a telescope. Temperatures on Saturn are around -170°C. Like Jupiter, Saturn radiates off more heat than it receives. It takes Saturn more than 129 years to revolve around the sun.
The mythological god, Saturn, is a slow moving god. He limps, the aftermath of having been hurled from Olympia by his mother. In ancient times, this story explained his slow movements.
This calm movement intonates both celestes.

Ses anneaux, qui s'étendent jusqu'à 140.000 km dans l'espace, sont composés de milliards de morceaux de roche et de glace, de taille généralement microscopique, mais pouvant mesure jusqu'à 10 mètres. Les anneaux sont inclinés par rapport à la Terre; une longue-vue suffit donc à les observer. La température en surface se situe aux alentours de -170 °C. Tout comme Jupiter, elle émet plus de chaleur qu'elle n'en reçoit du Soleil. Elle met plus de 29 ans pour faire le tour du Soleil.
Dans la mythologie, Saturne est un dieu lent. Il boite, ayant été précipité du haut de l'Olympe par sa mère. C'est ainsi que, dan l'Antiquité, on expliquait sa lente marche autour du Soleil. Le mouvement lent fait entendre les deux ondulants de l'orgue.
